This is my contest entry for :iconbokkaku:'s contest - details can be found here [link]

This is a full-blown graphite pencil drawing, and the clearfile sleeve that this drawing is stored in is full of graphite smudges

The Gryphon as we know it, is a majestic mythical creature with the body of a lion and the talons, wings and head of the eagle, symbolising both divine power and the guardian of the divine.

I had deliberately exaggerated some aspects of the gryphon to emphasize that it's a combination of the lion and the eagle (the king of the beasts and the king of the birds), but in turn, had to omit some minor elements in the drawing.

Enjoy

Thanks, your phoenix would be finished at around early April. I'll submit it as a deviation here.

Wow! Awesome job! That's amazing! Oh, and try some clear matte craft spray (that I can't remember the actual name of at the moment) over the picture. It protects them from smudging, yellowing, etc, but doesn't alter the picture in any other way. I've used it for years on pics with a lot of shading like this one. Anyway... great pic! :-)

Oh yeah, I think you're talking about the matte "fixative". I use it in school, but I've never had the time to go and buy some at the local art store.
